They’re here.

They’re queer.

And they time travel.

Book news: I finished writing my f/f time travel romance and have sent it off for the first round of editing! *throws confetti*

If you’re reading this post, thank you so much for your interest. It means a lot!

What’s the title?

It’s a secret…for now. *twirls mustache*

What’s the new sci-fi romance book about?

Queer ladies who time travel and have gay adventures. Other genre tags that apply: geeky rom-com and sci-fi romance with a dash of steampunk. Stay tuned for the official description. :D

What are some of the characters & romance tropes readers can expect?

*love against all odds

*time-crossed lovers

*doomed romance

*STEM female MC (white, femme, lesbian)

*geek female MC (biracial, butch, bisexual)

*disaster pets

*badass lady’s maid

*fighting the patriarchy

Here’s another hint: My forthcoming science fiction romance shares sensibilities with the time travel movies Kate & Leopold and Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. Yes, it’s going to be that much fun!

Will there be hot, juicy sex scenes?

Yes!

What are the themes of this time travel book?

My forthcoming sci-fi romance will feature several time travel themes, but also others. The main ones concern the erasure of women in science, the erasure of their contributions to various scientific fields, and the theft of their scientific work in the form of men who hog all the credit for it.

It has always been up to women ourselves to make sure our stories are not forgotten.”

The above quote is from an article at Electric Lit by Brigette Dale called If We Want Historical Stories About Women, We’ll Need to Read Between the Lines. It’s a fascinating read all by itself, and also relates to some of the themes in my forthcoming time travel story.

One of the tropes is “doomed romance.” Will there be a happily ever after?

Definitely! This book is designed to be a fun adventure. There are high stakes, social commentary, and plot twists that’ll keep you guessing, but also quirky humor, a loveable cast of big personality characters, and tender romance.

Why did you write a time travel romance?

I’m a geek who loves time travel stories and I’m hungry for more diversity in the genre. I can’t point to a single mainstream Hollywood time travel movie featuring queer main characters that’s as popular as Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Back to the Future, or Kate & Leopold. Since Hollywood has yet to catch up, I decided to write a geeky f/f time travel romance that’s in a similar vein.

This story represents my geek interests—trust me, you’ll discover just how much of a huge nerd I really am—and includes representation that draws on my lived experience as a biracial, bisexual cis woman.

Speaking of diverse time travel stories, one of the best movies I’ve seen in recent years is See You Yesterday (Netflix). Go watch it if you haven’t already. It’ll help pass the time while you wait for my book!

When will the book be available?

I’m aiming for a winter/spring 2022 release.

Next step for my super gay time travel romance: contacting an illustrator to design the cover. I can’t wait for you to meet my queer lady time travelers!

In the meantime, I’ll continue to work on building the ebook. Not only will you get a fun story, but also entertaining bonus content. A geek’s paradise, if you will.

That’s all for now, folks. Thanks for reading!
