My Adoption Essay at Severance Magazine

News: I placed an essay at Severance Magazine. Founded by B.K. Jackson, this magazine is a powerhouse of articles, essays, and resources for folks who have been separated from their biological families. It contains a wealth of stories highlighting myriad issues in assorted literary styles. Whether you’ve been separated from your biological kin or not, Severance Magazine is well worth your time.

Here’s the opening of its mission statement:

Severance is a magazine and community for people who’ve been separated from biological family.

It’s for anyone who’s fallen out of the family tree and made a hard landing, who’s learned they’re not quite who they thought they were.

It’s for conversations about what it feels like to have no genetic connection to the families we grew up with.

It’s about adjusting to shifting realities or living with the unknown.

My essay is titled, “A Tale of Two Adoptees.” While I’m open about my adoption in everyday life, this essay marks the first time I’ve shared my adoption story on a public platform. Basically, my piece is about two adopted people who have starkly different views about the necessity of adoption. To discover who the other adoptee is, I invite you to read it. And while you’re there, check out all the terrific content Severance Magazine has to offer.

Thanks for your interest!
