Weird Stuff in Heather Massey’s Sci-Fi Romance You Might Like
As an author of sci-fi romances that often include weird elements, I’d like to share some story highlights in case any of the books are up your alley. This post is a companion to my previous one, Is Weird Sci-Fi Romance the New Black?. Basically, books like Ruby Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarians and Casey McQuiston’s time travel rom-com One Last Stop are considered “weird” by mainstream publishing folks, but in a good way. Both books are also very popular. Therefore, weird sci-fi romance must be “in,” so it behooves me to tell you about some of mine. *Cheshire cat grin*
Beware major spoilers, but I know some readers really want to know a book is going to deliver what they want before parting with their hard-earned money. The good news is some of my weird science fiction romances are free!
CW: descriptions of raunchy story elements, sexual assault, and graphic violence
The Alien Vampire’s Virgin by my alter ego P.F. Ward, from my story collection Cosmic Tales of Monster Romance.
In one scene of this monster sci-fi romance, a tentacled alien sexually assaults the female MC, and to save her the male, alien vampire MC has to have sex with her at the same time. Yes, he has to. It’s the only way to distract the alien monster, you see.
Wilbert E. Hornbeck’s Fantastic Adventure (free)
MMF orgy between a nerdy MC and alien visitors from another place and time in a steampunk setting. The female MC can change her skin color at will. Honestly, the weirdest part of this story is its epistolary narrative. Despite having been advised to avoid that approach, Wilbert E. Hornbeck’s Fantastic Adventure is one of my most-downloaded stories. The other is the Alien Vampire’s Virgin. Thanks to all my readers who embrace the weirdness!
A Villainous Affair
My Victorian-set steampunk romance saga features a giant china doll battle automaton with Queen Victoria at the helm. If you ever wanted to read about a violent battle on the grounds of Buckingham Palace wherein Victoria is tearing shit up in a steampunk mecha while fighting the villain protagonists, then this epic adventure is for you!
Also, in one sex scene, the male inventor MC, who is high on aether, penetrates the female MC with an invisible cock he fashioned from aether while she fellates his real one. Then they have a raunchy threesome with a human-sized sex doll automaton.
The Watchmaker’s Lady
In this clockpunk romance with Pygmalion elements, the couple’s meet-cute occurs in a shop where the male MC falls in love with a female mannequin head. After he takes her home with him, she promptly sucks his cock. He imagines her as a real person/head, but feel free to consider the utter weirdness of what that scene must look like in real life.
The now-defunct RT Book Reviews gave The Watchmaker’s Lady a 4/4.5, so I must have done something weird and also entertaining.
